Map of the area.
Yeah, Route 18 can be confusing over there by Wayside Road but, for a local guy, not likely? OK, sure, the rain was bad Friday night but, still, what exactly happened?

One should not be so quick to judge, especially when there is no information available to draw any conclusion about what may have caused the fatal accident that leaves a family grieving. Whatever you may be implying by asking "what exactly happened" in an obviously incredulous tone, you may want to rethink jumping to a negative conclusion especially as one who seems consider to ones self a Christian.
I was actually thinking he might have experienced car trouble of some kind.
I suppose that's projection on my part as that's my own biggest fear, like a blown tire at high speeds (which has happened to me but I handled it) or some other haywire, onboard computer thing.
Whatever it was, I can't imagine the bad weather helped.
I was also thinking of making a donation to St Jerome's in his name, as they've had their share of hardships over the years, especially on 9/11. When I lived over that way, I used to do holy hour there on Fridays and, of course, Stations of the Cross.
Peace.
