In a video series on Isaiah recorded last year, Bible teacher Kay Arthur insinuated that, in light of Isaiah 3:12, the candidacy of Hillary Clinton clearly indicates America's moral decline and God's judgment.

For most evangelicals, it's idolatry to equate America with the People of God, but the theological chameleon Arthur carves a niche for herself with this unique position.

I wonder what Arthur makes of Sarah Palin's selection. Did she never expect the Republicans to choose a woman? Or would Arthur now be forced to consistency?

Seems like that teacher went to the Jack Van Impe school of Biblical Studies... :-)

If she weren't such a chameleon, you'd be spot on with that assessment.

But the rise in popularity of Reformed theology coupled with the influence of her sons - who are Reformed - means that she's moved theologically towards a fuller preterism while retaining a dispensational attitude towards God's covenant with Israel and a mid-trib rapture eschatology.

Her hermeneutics emphasize less than before the method of "rightly dividing the word of God." The gradual change in theology and its corresponding change in biblical interpretation is very clearly the cart is pulling the horse. 'Though she insists that she's simply reading more carefully. That God has shown her where she was wrong before and is showing her now these correct interpretations. Indeed:

But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. - Phil. 1:18 (NIV as BibleGateway's DR is messed up).
