After their computer class at the YMCA, I took the boys to McDonald's for dinner but I abstained. The kid serving the drive-thru window traffic confessed to me that working at McDonald's on Ash Wednesday was a tough gig. I didn't say so but should think that any day spent working at McDonald's would be unpleasant. That's what this blog is for: things I should have said but I bit my tongue. Oh, I prayed for him instead, a decade of my rosary.

Now, for Dr. Seuss week at school, my boys ate green eggs and ham! Oh, meat on Ash Wednesday! Obviously not a parochial school, no. Now, the boys aren't old enough to observe any aspect of Lent, of course, so I can't be too upset. But it still seems somewhat thoughtless.
