Where have all the Alleluias gone?

We sang the Kyrie eleison tonight for the first time that I can remember. I mean, we usually pray it in English. No Gloria after the penitential rite again until Easter. And it's such a welcome return. I mean, I realize how much I miss the Gloria when, at the Easter Vigil, we sing it with all of our might.

No Alleluias before the Gospel is read, either. Tonight we sang Praise to you, Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ! before the proclamation of the Gospel instead.

The Great Amen after the eucharistic prayer was tricky. The cantor almost broke into an "Alleluia" by mistake.

This might seem silly but when it all comes back at the Easter Vigil, its absence becomes very noticeable and its return very welcome.
